Fly Control

This is a universal category to cover most species of flies that are considered a pest within the UK. Where necessary we have specific categories for flies that are often commonly found within properties.

We have several flies that often cause an issue within properties and around gardens and paddocks; the source of infestations varies depending on the species and can range from a carcass to a damp issue. The majority of flies are known transmitters of diseases and when encountered in larger populations steps should be undertaken to control them.

Seeking the source of a fly infestation should always be the first step before insecticides are used; failure to undertake this step will often fail long-term control. Most flies require a source; for larger flies such as blue bottles they are normally associated with a dead animal so seeking and removal of the carcass should be considered the priority; smaller flies such as fruit flies and barflies are commonly associated with stagnant and leaking water so hygiene steps may solve this issue. Often removal of a source will entirely remove the need to use traps and insecticides.

Treatments for flies are generally straightforward and easy to apply. Aerosols are available that can be used to directly kill flies or void treatments such as our one-shot aerosol fogger or insecticide smoke bomb can quickly kill any flies present at the time of the treatment.

An alternative to insecticide is using traps; either fly zappers that attract and kill flies using UV light or fly bags that attract and trap flies in an inescapable non-return bag. Both methods work by removing the localised populations of specific flies; especially in areas where a source of infestations cannot be identified.
