Solar panels create suitable habitation areas for pigeons to access for both roosting and nesting. If left uncontrolled waste and nesting materials can quickly build up leading to a range of issues including water leaks and insect infestations and for this reason steps should always be undertaken to prevent pigeon ingress. The principle solution is the installation of mesh around the edges; the mesh can be installed using specialist solar clips that hook to the underside of the panel and prevents the user from having to drill into the solar panel frame which is best avoided as this can void any manufacturer's warranty. An alternative to solar mesh is the installation of spikes that can be installed with ease on the aluminium frame around the outer edge of the system. The use of a strong flexible adhesive is highly recommended due to temperature fluctuations.
